Abstract

Abstract

Washing hands is one of the sanitation measures during the current pandemic. Alcohol has been widely used as a skin antiseptic because it has the effect of inhibiting the growth of bacteria. Continuous contact of alcohol with the skin causes the skin to become dry and irritates the skin. Dry skin can be treated by using a moisturizer. One that has the potential to moisturize the skin that has no side effects is the white layer of watermelon skin because it contains vitamins A, B2, B6, E, C. The purpose of this study was to determine the combination of watermelon rind extract and honey in a  moisturizing cream formulation that can be used as an antioxidant. The watermelon rind (Citrullus vulgaris) which has been extracted using the maceration method  is then continued to make cream formulations with three formula (0,025%, 0,05%, 0,1%)  and antioxidant activity testing value using the DPPH method (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) intensity was measured at = 516  nm spectrophotometry. It can be concluded that The three formulation of watermelon rind extract and honey have low antioxidants but are able to moisturize the skin well and do not cause irritation.  Keywords: watermelon rind, honey, moisturizing cream, antioxidant
