Penyuluhan Pemberian Makan Anak Usia 0-23 Bulan di Pulau Nguan Tahun 2020

Abstract

WHO recommends an optimal feeding strategy for children under two years of age, namely exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months and complementary feeding starting at six months of age while continuing to provide breastfeeding until the age of two. However, the problems are often encountered in feeding children, namely feeding complementary foods too early, which causes the failure to practice exclusive breastfeeding. Based on Riskesdas 2018 data, children aged 0-5 months in Indonesia who received exclusive breastfeeding were 74.5%. Improper feeding practices are a significant cause of early malnutrition in infants and children under two years of age. Therefore, this community service activity is carried out to increase mothers' knowledge in providing food for their children. This activity was attended by mothers who have toddlers on Nguan Island, Batam. The mother's knowledge level was measured using a pre-test and post-test questionnaire. The pre-test and post-test analysis results showed that the mean score of pre-test knowledge was 7.05 more or less 0.785 SD, and the post-test was 8.64 more or less 0.727 SD. Maternal knowledge scores before and after socialization experienced differences, where the average score of knowledge was higher after the socialization of child feeding practices was carried out.
